On Friday's The View, Tom Cruise is visibly shaken when asked about the death of pal John Travolta's 16-year-old son
Jett.
"It's just horrific," he tells Barbara Walters. "Here you have a man, both of them doting parents, they're wonderful people and ..."
"I remember
Jett when he was born," Cruise later says. "I saw him when he was just a few months old and John just adored him, and both of his children, and Kelly.
"I just don't have the words for it," Cruise adds of
Jett's death.
Cruise also comments on the speculation that Scientology discourages followers from seeking medical care. (Both Cruise and Travolta are famous
Scientologists.)
"That's just not true. It's actually false," Cruise says. "They say, 'Get your physical, get your medication, get your physical illnesses handled.'"
John Travolta and Kelly Preston said their final goodbyes to their 16-year-old son
Jett at his funeral Thursday afternoon.
Jett's service took place at
Jumbolair Aviation Estates in
Ocala, Florida, where he and his family lived for several months out of the year.
Travolta's next-door neighbor, Jacob
Urbowicz, gathered outside the private memorial service along with other fans and neighbors.
"John waves to me from his plane, and for somebody like him to do that is pretty special,"
Urbowicz, 44, tells
Usmagazine.com. "My 10-year-old son Alexander and
Jett would smile and wave at each other [when they saw each other]."
Flower delivery trucks came to the site throughout the day to drop off roses, lilies and other arrangements. Posters and cards have also been left for the family at their home in Florida.
