Angelina Jolie And Brad Pitt Score Academy Award Nominations
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt both scored Academy Award nominations for their dramatic leading roles, it was announced Thursday.
In the Best Actress category, Jolie will face off against Anne Hathaway (Rachel Getting Married); Melissa Leo (Frozen River); Meryl Streep (Doubt) and Kate Winsley (The Reader). Many expected Winslet to get a nod for Revolutionary Road.
Pitt -- whose film The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is also up for Best Picture -- also has competition: Richard Jenkins (The Visitor); Frank Langella (Frost/Nixon); Sean Penn (Milk); and Mickey Rourke (The Wrestler). Leonard DiCaprio, who wowed critics in Revolutionary Road got shunned.
Jolie and Pitt have scored nods at every major awards show this year, including the Golden Globes. The two are expected at Sunday's Screen Actors Guild Awards.
